Apprenticeship – Precision Machinist

Annually “Formtech Werkzeug- und Formenbau GmbH ” trains several young school graduates in the job of a precision machinist.

Job description:

Precision machinists manufacture work-pieces for machines and precision appliances, repair and assemble those pieces and manufacture stamping -, forming tools and steel moulds. As every fraction of a millimetre is important for the result, they use computer operated machine tools for shape cutting such as turning, drilling, grinding and milling. Precision machinists program the machine tools, perform the shape cutting and check the result with different measuring instruments.

The job as precision machinist exists since 2002 and replaces the technical jobs as precision mechanic, Turner, machine mechanic and tool maker.

The apprenticeship to be a certified precision machinist takes 3.5 years. (Source: Berufslexikon)

We already have chosen our new apprentices for the current apprenticeship year (which always starts in September).

Starting in August 2018, applicants with at least a secondary modern school qualification can apply for the upcoming apprenticeship year 2019/2020 with their 2018 school report.
